Fukuoka Women’s University (FWU) accepts female students who are recipients of MEXT scholarship in the "Research Students” category. For further details, please contact the Japanese Embassy or Consulate-General in their own country.
MEXT research students are enrolled in FWU as non-degree research students in general. While studying as a research student, they will prepare for their Master's/PhD study and take an entrance examination. FWU graduate entrance examinations are conducted in Japanese. Upon admission to the Master's/PhD program, they are enrolled as degree students.
Suppose you are applying for a MEXT University Recommendation Scholarship and wish to study in the Master's/PhD program from the beginning. In that case, you have to pass the FWU graduate entrance examination before FWU submits scholarship applications to MEXT. Please consult the FWU faculty member, who can be your prospective academic advisor at FWU.
The first screening is conducted between May and July by the Japanese Embassy or Consulate-General in the country of the applicant's citizenship. As the application process and schedule differ according to the country, please inquire for details at the Japanese Embassy or Consulate-General in your country.
If you passed the first screening by the Japanese Embassy or Consulate-General and wish to request FWU to issue a Letter of Provisional Acceptance, please contact the International Center of FWU(international2@fwu.ac.jp) along with the application documents listed below.
Applicants are responsible for selecting a prospective academic advisor and must fill in the required information in the application form. FWU does not accept applications without the prospective advisor's information. Please visit our researcher database and find your prospective advisor.
After careful review of the application, FWU will decide whether or not to issue a Letter of Provisional Acceptance to the applicant. The primary enrollment status at FWU is a non-degree research student. Please note that it may take more than one month to complete the document screening during our summer recess period in August and September. If you wish to request a Letter of Provisional Acceptance, you are strongly advised to contact us in early August.
In the University Recommendation process, candidates are recommended to MEXT by the Japanese university that will accept the candidates as MEXT research students. MEXT conducts screening and selects scholarship grantees. If you wish to seek FWU admission accompanied by the MEXT University Recommendation Scholarship, please contact the FWU faculty member, who can be your prospective academic advisor at FWU. A prospective academic advisor is usually the one who has maintained an academic collaboration with researchers of your home institution. FWU accepts applications from our faculty members from December to January. Only October intake is available for the University Recommendation Scholarship.
